Methodology & Process
A clear process for serious work.
DECA uses a focused process to move from an initial question to a defined plan, organized materials and practical next steps.
Six Operating Phases
Initial assessment
We begin by assessing the project, the people involved, the intended outcome and the resources available. This helps determine whether the project is suitable for DECA.
Define
We identify the purpose, audience, scope, responsibilities, timeline and key decisions that need to be made.
Structure
We organize the strategy, content, rights, workflows and information requirements that support the project.
Develop
We create the agreed materials, plans, systems or working documents. When specialist work is required, qualified collaborators may be involved.
Review
We review the work with the client, address agreed revisions and document the decisions required for implementation.
Continue
When appropriate, we establish a handover, maintenance or continuity process so the work can continue after the initial engagement.
Foundational Standards
Working principles
Purpose before production
We define what the work is meant to achieve before creating materials.
Clear ownership
We identify who owns, controls and may use relevant materials.
Documented decisions
We record important choices, responsibilities and limitations.
Responsible use
We consider privacy, permissions, confidentiality and reputation throughout the work.
Practical scope
We match the engagement to the project’s actual stage, needs and resources.
